Day 20: Your views on drugs and alcohol.

Prescription drugs are cool. As long as you don’t abuse them. But illegal drugs, no way man! Don’t do it! Just say no! It only screws up your life and everyone around you. Don’t believe me? Watch the show Intervention. I don’t understand who or how they were invented. It’s just a waste of money, time, and a life. As far as alcohol goes… I’ve got the same outlook on it as I do drugs. People act so stupid when they drink. I hate that people use alcohol as an excuse to do things they wouldn’t normally do. If you want to do something different, then just do it. It’s really just the placebo of it all. I mean, if you were drinking something that you thought was alcohol but wasn’t really alcohol you’d still act the same way if no one told you. I could go on but what’s the point. You get it.

I really like today's songs. It's been one of my favorites ever since it came out, back in '98, I think. One reason why I like this song is because the lead singer kind of looks like my brother-in-law, Matt, in the video. Hope you like it! Be strong, be happy, and find the joy in your life!

Today’s challenge…

Day 19: What do you think of religion? Or what do you think of politics?

Okay, I guess we’re getting into the controversial topics. I am totally cool w/ religion. I am part of one, as you all know the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and if you are part of the same or different one, power to ya! As long as it is a religion that does NOT take away your ability to choose, and does NOT harm you or anyone else, it’s all good! I’m the type of person who will share w/ you about my religion if you ask but won’t force feed it to you either. If I have questions about another religion, I like to go to the source instead of going somewhere that will give me bad information. “If you’re going to shop around for a Toyota, you go to the Toyota dealers. Not to the Ford dealers to learn about Toyotas” (Kent Wilson, 2005, my mission president).

As far as politics go… I am politically apathetic. It’s funny that this is today’s topic because I was just asking my dad about Pelosi and Biden. Idk why people don’t like Pelosi and I forgot the name of Obama’s VP. Luckily, my parents are politically aware. I could’ve asked anyone else in the house, but they are NObama-ers and my parents are PrObama-ers. I just made that up. Well, at least I think I did. If not, then that just reinforces my political apathy. My dad gave me a few facts but then told me to do research for myself. I have yet to form my own opinion of Obama so maybe one of these days I will, before he’s no longer president. Anyways, apparently I’m Republican but I would vote differently if I felt another party member would be better for the position. I think the government is super corrupt and we need to remember what the Constitution is and what it was written for. I’m so over listening to people yell at one another about different things that have gone on. Yelling doesn’t solve anything. Just get over it and look for a way to make things better. If everyone spent more time on finding ways to better the economy and what not, rather than yell at one another about how dumb the other one is, I bet we could even cure cancer! Grow up. Aren’t we supposed to be adults?

I went to FHE today! How awesome is that. I haven’t been in a while. But I didn’t even go to my own branch’s FHE. I went to my friend’s, Marie, FHE. It was so fun! We had a pumpkin carving contest. Our team was pretty awesome! We made three pumpkins, a turtle, Dracula, and words in Elvish. Not Elvis, Elvish. Like from “Lord of the Rings.” Our pumpkins were legit! We didn’t win but I think the contest was rigged. J I met a lot of new people and they were all really cool. Marie thought it would be fun if she introduced me as a recent convert friend. That caught me off guard. Luckily no one asked me typical recent convert questions. Either because they were super cool or they just didn’t believe her. Idk. I tried hard not to laugh too much but I’m not sure how well that worked out. Oh, this one guys that I met, Brayden, agreed w/ Marie in me coming to their church on Sundays. He also said that their church, since I was a recent convert we didn’t say ward, was the best because they have a pew w/ my name on it. He didn’t know my name yet so I asked him, “And what name would that be?” He said, “Ms. Awesome!” Best answer ever! J Totally smooth!

Day 18: Your views on gay marriage.

Who came up w/ the topics for this thing? Well, I told you from the beginning that I am not trying to offend anyone w/ my answers. If you take offense, then it’s your own fault. In MY opinion, gay marriage is wrong. I do not support it at all. Marriage is between a man and a woman and is ordained of God. There is no other type of marriage. However, I do have friends and family members that are gay and I still love them. I will always love them, but I do not support them in the lifestyle they choose to live. I will not hold up signs in support of gay marriage. I will not vote in favor of legalizing gay marriages. I will love the sinner but hate the sin. I will not argue w/ you over it. I will not force my opinions and/or beliefs onto you. I do expect the same from you.

Church was so great today! The theme was “Trust in the Lord.” It wasn’t one that was necessarily picked out by the bishopric but the speakers in sacrament spoke about President Eyring’s talk from this last conference and then Sunday school and Relief Society also had emphasis on trusting in the Lord, too. Which I think was interesting and awesome because I’ve been really trying to TRUST the Lord. It can be such a hard thing at times. I think in this situation (no fist pumping please) it’s been difficult because I’m afraid of the unknown. But thinking about it, any decision you make isn’t definite and anything could happen. It was said today that in order to trust the Lord you need to first know Him. I KNOW the Lord but it’s been a while since I had a complete knowledge. Now it’s more of… an acquaintance. Wow. That’s not good. I should probably work on that if I am hoping to put my trust in Him. Wish me luck.

Day 17: A book you’ve read that changed your views on something.

I don’t read that much. I want to say that “The Greatest Salesman in the World” by Og Mandino, changed my views but I can’t really remember what it would have changed. It is a great book! I just wish my memory was better. I would then have to say, and I’m not saying that this is the backup choice or whatever, that “The Infinite Atonement” by Tad R. Callister, changed my views on the atonement of Jesus Christ. Not in a negative way at all. But rather it made me realize the power of the atonement in a different light. I remember reading it on my mission thinking, “Huh, I never thought of it that way,” or “That makes so much sense!” I’ve been meaning to read it again but I have to get another copy. I let someone borrow it and have yet to see it again. L I read “Jesus the Christ” by James E. Talmage, but never finished it. I had a hard time understanding it. “The Infinite Atonement” isn’t as hard but I think after reading it I will be better prepared for “Jesus the Christ.”

I think today’s song goes along w/ trusting in the Lord. It’s not a church song but it still works. A lot of times life just requires patience. I’m usually a pretty patient person but in some cases, I just hate having to wait. Haha! That reminds me… Carrie recently taught Isabella about patience. She’ll get so antsy and want whatever it is she wants right then and there. Carrie has since taught her “to wait.” Carrie will say, “You have to…” and Isabella replies, “Wait.” It’s really cute and she’s slowly understanding what wait actually means. Guess what! Today is my blog birthday! How cool is that?! I can’t believe it’s been a year already since I’ve become part of the blogging world. It really only seems like I started just a couple months ago.

Day 16: Someone or something you definitely could live without.

Drama! Does that count? I think so. Who needs it? I mean sure drama in the aspect of an art form is great. But drama from other people is definitely something I could live without! Including the drama that seems to jump into my life, unexpected. I wonder why it is that some people feel they NEED to have drama or that they NEED to create drama. It’s so overrated. Just get over yourself and get over it! Life would be so much smoother. It’s true. Think about it.

Day 15: Something or someone you couldn’t live without, because you’ve tried living without it.

My family! Sometimes I think I can live without them. Well mostly without talking to them frequently, but really I can’t! There are times that I don’t call them as often as I should, and those times are more often than not. L I’ve noticed that things go differently if I don’t talk to my mom at least once a week. I become more anxious and wait around for her to call. When really I should just call them. Several years ago I moved back to Big Island by myself and my family stayed on Oahu. I made the move without telling anyone in advance. I told my parents just before I was leaving and we had a fight and for the first time in my life they said they were disappointed. That is THE worst! It’s like a knife to the heart and twisted. Ugh! I stayed on Big Island for about nine months and then moved back home because my sister and her family were going to move to Virginia. During those nine months, my relationship with my parents wasn’t the best. We didn’t talk very much for quite a while. It was pretty miserable for me but I didn’t ever let them know. And any conversations we had were short. Luckily, my parents love me no matter how dumb I am and no matter how much I take them for granted. Why is it that sometimes we forget how awesome something is until we realize it isn’t around as much anymore? That’s what it’s like when I don’t talk to my mom, often. I mean, I KNOW she’s awesome but sometimes I worry that she’ll ask me certain things that I don’t want to talk about. When it reality, there isn’t anything like that right now in my life. I always have so much fun talking to my mom. We catch up, we joke around, and we connect spiritually. She is such a great example to me and I hope to be as much like her as I can be. I love my dad, my little brother, and my big sister, too but I am the closest with my mom.

Today’s song is a family favorite. It’s a Hawaiian song called “Kaula Ili.” My Papa used to sing this one all the time when I was little. He passed away before I turned 5 years old, but I remember this was one of the songs he sang. I was going to just put the words up but the translation isn’t as beautiful as the song itself. Dungeon Day

I wonder what my blog will turn into after the “30 Days of Truth Challenge” is over. I know that I can make it whatever I want it to be but I hope I am consistent. Lord knows that is a weakness for me in the blogging-world.

Today was a pretty good day. It was super chill! Carrie had a half day of work yesterday and is off the rest of this week because of UEA so I am off, too! I had one of those “just me” days. I hung out in the dungeon all day doing homework, making videos for my mom, watching a movie, catching up on my shows, chattin’ it up w/ friends, attempting Snookie’s hairdo. You know, just chillin’! J Let’s get into today’s challenge.

Day 14: A hero that has let you down.

Huh. I don’t know if I’ve had any heroes that haven’t followed through. My mom’s always been awesome and there for me. My papa passed away when I was way little so he hasn’t done anything wrong in my eyes. As far as anyone else that would be a potential hero… I haven’t considered them to be one. But this is good right? The ones that count are still on my “Awesome” list. J

Today’s song is an awesome one. Although, they’re always awesome! This one is off of a CD my friend, Chaela, made for me just before I left to Virginia for two months last year.
